Since its introduction in 1988, the Geo Tracker has been one of the smallest and lightest SUVs on the market. It was created when General Motors of Canada and Suzuki got together and formed a project called CAMI. The initial idea was to have all Trackers made in the Ingersoll plant in Ontario, Canada. This was a short lived hope due to a series of delays at the plant. Prior to opening production of the Tracker in Canada, all of them were made in Japan and imported to the United States. It wasn’t until 1990 that the company was able to produce Trackers in North America.
The Geo Tracker was initially powered by Suzuki’s 8 valve 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine with a max of 80 horsepower. The models available 1989 and 1990 were the base convertible, the base 2 door hardtop, and the LSi hardtop. All Geo Trackers were 4 wheel drive until a convertible two wheel drive model was introduced in 1992.
In 1995 the two door hardtop model was discontinued because of the four door wagon that was planned for production in 1996. Even though Suzuki had been importing the Sidekick four doors since 1991, the CAMI factory didn’t begin producing a four door Geo until 1996. At this time the four door Geo Tracker was upgraded with Suzuki’s 16 valve 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine that produced 96 horsepower.
In 1998 Geo merged back with Chevrolet, and all Geo models were labeled with the Chevrolet logo. Here the Chevy Tracker was born.
The Tracker differs from most other light SUVs on the market in that it is based on a light-truck chassis. Completing its small truck feel, the Tracker has a firm front suspension and a recirculating ball steering box. The front differential is mounted in front of the engine, and U-jointed drive shafts connect to coil-spring front hubs to the differential case. On the rear of the Tracker you have a light truck unit on coil springs.
As a result of this setup the tracker drives like a truck, with a SUVs durability, and much better gas mileage than most of the competition.m

Anyone using a traditional police scanner might have noticed something peculiar lately. It might have become increasingly difficult to follow a radio transmission. If this sounds familiar, a trunk radio system may be the cause. Digital trunking scanners are the only way to follow a trunk radio system.
Many law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and other government agencies are switching to trunk radio systems in order to make it increasingly difficult to monitor radio transmissions. A trunk radio system allows a group of users to share a group of radio frequencies. The users in the group constantly change frequencies within the frequency pool.
Traditional scanners will scan frequencies and then lock on when it picks up a transmission. When agencies used one frequency at all times, a traditional scanner would allow the listener to hear an entire transaction. However, this is not possible when an agency uses a trunk system.
In a trunk system, the conversation will jump to a different frequency at each transmission break. This means that a traditional scanner that is set to one frequency will only hear one tiny bit of the conversation. Even if a traditional scanner is set to scan, it is highly unlikely that anyone will be able to follow a conversation with any sort of coherence, especially in large cities with many different simultaneous transmissions.
A trunking scanner allows the listener to lock on to a particular user in a frequency pool. This means that, when using a digital trunking scanner, the listener will be able to follow everything that is going on in a trunk radio system. Trunk tracking scanners level the playing field and make it possible to monitor trunk radio systems.
There are many websites that offer great deals on trunking scanners. Anyone interested in scanning local frequencies should most definitely consider investing in a digital trunking scanner. As more and more agencies switch to trunk systems, these trunking scanners will be the only way to monitor the airwaves.

When a person needs to have more power for their car audio system, amps for cars are going to be purchased to do this. So what is the best way to install amplifiers for cars and is it difficult to do? There are many ways to install a car amp and it is not very difficult to do at all as long as there is a confidence in the person and a willingness to learn.
The first thing to be considered is where the amplifier is going to be put in the car. Amps for cars can either go under the dashboard, under one of the front seats or in the trunk. If the amplifier is for a subwoofer, it can be best to put it in the truck where it is going to be out of the way.
Once the location has been chosen, there will be some wiring that needs to be purchased. This is going to be power wire which is typically red in color and ground wire that is typically black or white. The power wire needs to be long enough to go from the location of the amp to the battery with room left for a fuse.
Other wires are going to be needed too but they are going to be different for different amps for cars. Read the manufacturer’s instructions to know exactly what wires are needed for the brand that is being installed. The wiring is not that expensive and can be found at any auto parts store.
Connect the red wire to the amps for cars where indicated. There should be a diagram with the amp. Then connect the black wire to the amp. Take the red wire and cut it in half and put in a fuse section. Connect the red wire to the battery after the positive battery cable has been removed so there is no juice running to it and the ground wire to a metal bolt or screw. Connect all the other wires and the amplifier will work like a charm.
