A country car, also known as an antique car, is one that can be said to be at least 25 years old although there are some models which are about that old and have many of the features found in modern brands. Whether it be from the movies, or magazines or purely a romanticized view of automobiles from another era, country cars are still widely popular and tend to turn heads whenever they pass by.
One of the reasons they are popular is because of the way they look. With so many modern brands of cars now repetitively similar in body appearance, people want to look different.. Everyone wants to be seen in a totally different model of car other than one that everybody has. You can imagine that the hottest selling car in the United States for a long time was the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. In light of that, you see that it would be very difficult for such a car to turn heads, given that there are hundreds of thousands of them. But if you spot a 1964 American Rambler and you are sure to turn heads and even get a few offers to buy it from you. So one big pull towards country or antique cars is the visual appeal that they have. Being out of the ordinary in terms of body appearance gives them a special look and feel.
Country cars were also popularized by the classic movies such as the wildly popular Greece (1978) starring John Travolta. People tend to identify with movie stars and will idolize them and want to look like them. Just as John Travolta popularized the 70s lover boy appeal and hairstyle, the classic country cars that were featured in that film also saw a spike in popularity.
Country card also a collectors item for many. Some of them tend to be expensive, retailing for more than $30,000 thereby making them the past time of the rich and the famous. Many well known millionaires and actors spot antique cars mostly as a collectors items and for prestigious purposes. Some rarely drive them, preferring instead to showcase them in their garage and reveal them only to visiting guests. As we said earlier, many country cars were popularized and romanticized in movies and therefore collectors buy them at auctions and keep them as memorabilia from that particular movie that they love.
Actors, the rich and the famous are not the any people who collect antique cars. Many popular brands such as Ford Austin, Volkswagen Beetle and Anglia are wildly popular with many and are still sold in select dealerships. These may range from $8000.00 to $40,000 depending on the condition it is in and how rare it is. The more rare it is and also the more well kept then the more expensive it tends to be. But overall, anywhere between $8000 and $20000 can get you a decent country car but you may have to do a little searching because in many cases, they are not readily available.
