Repo Car Auctions

Author: Theodore Category: Vehicle Shopping

Often a repossessed car can be purchased very inexpensively at a car auction.  Repo car auctions are held all across the United States. What is one persons misfortune, in losing their car, is another persons piece of luck in being able to buy it.

Usually when a car is repossessed by a bank or a loan company the buyer has the opportunity to catch up on the payments. Other companies offer the buyer the chance to make a full payoff of the car in order to receive it back. If the buyer cannot do either of these then the loan company, or bank, assumes ownership of the car and then sells it. Their goal is to recover as much of the loan balance as possible.

A repossessed car belongs to a bank, credit union, or some type of finance company. They are different then seized cars, unclaimed cars, or cars that have been impounded. These cars are generally in the possession of a police department or some type of government agency.

Although some of the companies originally making the loan will try to sell a car they are usually turned over to an auction company. It is up to the auction company to try to sell the car for the most money possible. Naturally, once the car has been sold, aside from a percentage of the sale, the money is turned over to the loan company. Reading more at sites like the repo cars guide will uncover facts like these, auctions can be dealer-only auctions whereby bidders must be qualified before entering the auction, a public or a private auction.

You’ll often find repo car auctions advertised in the newspaper and other media. Often times a bank will list cars they have available on their websites these days. If it is later turned over to an auction company a person can call the bank to obtain the needed details about the auction. Auto auction companies are also listed in telephone books as well as newspapers.

A repo auction can save the purchaser a great deal of money. The auction company often has nearly new cars for sale. They may also have late model cars available. The third type, older model cars, are more of a risk because they usually have high mileage and possible mechanical problems.
