Salvage Cars Surprise

Author: Theodore Category: Vehicle Shopping

When you look at my car you would have no idea that it came from salvage cars auction. I attended an auction hosted by a certain car insurance company and was surprised with all the good finds that were there. I had to admit that on the way there, I did not have a lot of expectations. My friend, who knew that I was on the look out for a good cheap car dragged me in the auction telling me that I should take a look. I finally relented so that he could stop bugging me.

The day of the auction, I could tell that my friend was excited. He was looking for a cheap car too for his son. I thought he was crazy letting his son drive one. I heard that salvage cars are cars that have gone through an accident or some cars that were damaged by nature like flood but since he was a mechanic I guess he knew what he was doing. I in turn was expecting to see a lot of junk and I was not looking forward to that.

So I stepped into the place expecting to be surrounded by terribly damaged cars that would never really get back to the road once more. Imagine my surprise that it was a lot different from what I thought. There were a handful of cars that were still in good shape and there were those that had never been used.

We roamed around and my friend pointed out to me the cars that I should be avoiding. He told me that we had to choose repairable cars that would not cost much to fix. He told me the importance of being able to evaluate how much it would take to repair the damages. This made sense to me since I would not want to pay a huge amount of money for a damaged car when I can get myself a new one with the same amount.

I did not know why my friend was still lingering around the badly damaged cars. He told me he was checking if the parts are still in good condition. Parts are very expensive in the market so he also goes to these auctions in order to get them cheap.

We found a Volkswagen beetle for my friend’s son. I decided to look around more before making a purchase and my friend agreed to help me out.  It just shows that I thought wrong about salvage cars. If you want to get a cheap ride – I think you should start attending a salvage car auction.
